Hands-on youth training in repurposed factory builds job prospects, one nail at a time

At times, the din of a half-dozen hammers driving nails into wood fills the room with a harsh staccato. At other times, a quiet voice seeks guidance and another voice answers in encouragement.

The workspace devoted to YouthBuild is rarely quiet.

YouthBuild, based in a repurposed factory in far west Rochester, teaches basic construction skills to young people looking for a fresh start.
